Five layers built around one soft foam
The cover is IceTech Cooling Fabric, and on a plush bed it matters more than on a firm one. When you sink into soft foam, more of your body is in contact with the mattress, and a cover that feels cool at first touch takes the edge off that. Under the cover, Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers meet the federal open-flame standard without chemical flame retardant sprays.
The first foam is DualComfort Foam with gel. It softens the surface and the gel helps move heat away from where your body presses in. Below it is ComfortSoft Foam, the layer that defines the 4-Star.
