Five layers, top to bottom
The cover is IceTech Cooling Fabric. It is the first thing you touch and it feels cool against your skin when you lie down, which is the main reason to pick this firm over a firm with a plain knit cover. Directly under the cover, Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers meet the federal open-flame standard. Jamison uses fibers rather than chemical flame retardant sprays.
The first foam layer is DualComfort Foam with gel. It is thin by design. Its job is to soften the surface enough that your shoulders and hips do not feel a hard edge, and the gel helps pull heat away from where your body meets the bed. Below it is LuxFirm Foam, a high-density layer that gives the Premier Firm its 7 out of 10 rating. This is the working layer.
