14 in. Rise LT + 14 in. mattress
Drawn to scale from the makers' published sizes. Sheets, a protector or a topper add a little. †
From above
- Seen from above at the size you picked. Foundation sizes are the ones Sealy and Stearns & Foster publish. †
- Queen and King need a center support. Sealy and Tempur-Pedic warranties ask for at least 5 legs, one of them in the middle. Stearns & Foster asks for a rigid bridge bar with at least 5 legs. †
- Sealy and Tempur-Pedic ask for 4 legs under a Twin or Full. †
- A King foundation comes as two Twin XL halves, each 38 by 79 in. Sealy and Stearns & Foster ship them that way for easier delivery. †
- Malouf's rail frames are 70 in. long, shorter than the 74 or 79 in. foundation that sits on them. †
- The Rise LT carries the mattress by itself. Malouf says no box spring is needed. †
- This frame widens only to 60 in. For a King, pick the Universal. †

Bed frame
Lifts the bed off the floor. A rail frame holds a foundation. A platform like the Rise LT holds the mattress by itself.
Build it above -
Foundation
A flat, rigid base with no springs. Sealy and Stearns & Foster build theirs from wood and steel wire. A rail frame needs one. A platform does not.
See foundations -
Box spring
The older base, built with coils that give. Sealy says a traditional box spring voids its mattress warranty. Many stores, ours included, still use the name for flat foundations.
See what we carry -
Adjustable base
Takes the place of the frame and the foundation, and lifts the head and feet. The mattress goes right on it.
