About this mattress
The twelve-inch plush Jamison for the bedroom you actually sleep in
The honest verdict: the Ion Plush is the Ignite Plush with two more inches of bed under you, and that is enough to change what it is for. The Ignite is the plush you put in a guest room or a teenager's room. The Ion is the plush you put in your own. It is staged at 4 out of 10 for firmness, where 10 is the firmest, and Jamison marks it Plush. Same layers, but at twelve inches it has the depth and presence of a primary bed, and it still ships free.¹
A plush bed asks the layers to give, and a taller build has more material to give with before you feel the base. Two adults on twelve inches get a more settled, less shallow feel than on ten. If you want plush with a coil core instead of an all-foam base, the Elevate Plush is the hybrid step up at twelve and a half inches.
What is inside
Five layers, top to bottom. The cover is a ComfortKnit MemoryQuilt Foam with Gel quilted comfort layer, with gel foam stitched into the quilt so it meets your hand first. Under it are Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers, which meet the federal open-flame standard without chemical flame retardant sprays. Then a Gel Cooling Foam layer that spreads your weight and helps carry heat away from your body. Then the ComfortVisco memory foam that does the contouring and earns the Plush rating. The base is the DualCore Support Foam Core, which holds the surface level so the soft layers do not bottom out. No coils anywhere in the build.
Who it fits
Side sleepers who want to sink in and have the bed keep giving. Adults sharing a bed who want the quiet of all foam, since foam naturally limits motion transfer, without the shallow feel of a thinner plush. Back sleepers who like a soft top and want real depth under the lower back. Anyone replacing a worn-out primary mattress who has already decided on plush.
Stomach sleepers should not buy this one, or any 4 out of 10. Face down on a plush bed the hips drop and the lower back bends. The React Cushion Firm at 8 out of 10 or the Premier Firm at 7 out of 10 will hold you flat. For a bunk or an RV, twelve inches is the wrong height. The React will fit.
How buying it online from Mattress Overstock works
The Ion is an online exclusive. It is not on any Mattress Overstock showroom floor right now, so there is nothing to lie down on in person. If you want to feel a Jamison first, the showroom Jamison lineup, including the Clarion Eurotop and Firm, Easton, and Vista, is at the Jamison Bedding collection and you can try those in any of the stores.
Order here and Jamison ships it direct from the factory via UPS, free, to the contiguous United States, meaning the 48 states plus Washington, DC.¹ Alaska, Hawaii, and the United States territories are not covered. Tracking is emailed once it leaves the plant. It arrives compressed and roll-packed, so even a twelve-inch bed comes through the door as a box.
Jamison backs it with a 10-year full warranty. Jamison mattresses are not eligible for a sleep trial, comfort exchange or return. There are no cash refunds. Damaged or defective items are handled under our refund policy. Warranty or damage questions after delivery go to help@mattressoverstock.email. Adjustable bases are typically compatible; confirm your base model with the store before ordering. Everyone at Mattress Overstock is paid the same no matter which bed you buy, so the advice you get is about which height fits your room.
Why this one
What makes this mattress different
Plush with real depth
Staged at 4 out of 10 where 10 is the firmest, and Jamison marks it Plush. Twelve inches gives the soft layers more room to give before you feel the base, which is the difference between plush and shallow.
-
Built for the main bedroom
The Ion is the same plush recipe as the Ignite with two more inches of bed. It has the height and look of a primary mattress on a platform or foundation, and it still ships free.¹
-
Memory foam does the contouring
A ComfortVisco memory foam layer sits under the gel foams and shapes itself to the shoulder and hip. Side sleepers get the sink-in feel, and the DualCore Support Foam Core keeps it from becoming sag.

-
Gel foam at the surface
The ComfortKnit MemoryQuilt cover has gel foam quilted into it, backed by a Gel Cooling Foam layer above the memory foam, so surface heat has somewhere to go before it reaches the layer that holds it.
-
Quiet for two adults
All foam, no coils. Foam naturally limits motion transfer, so a partner rolling over or leaving early stays on their side of a twelve-inch bed instead of rocking yours.
-
Meets the federal open-flame standard
Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers meet 16 CFR part 1633 with no chemical flame retardant sprays. Jamison's spec sheet shows CertiPUR-US certified foams, handmade in the United States since 1883.
-
Ships free, arrives roll-packed¹
Free UPS shipping direct from Jamison's factory to the contiguous United States, tracking emailed.¹ Even at twelve inches it arrives compressed and roll-packed, so it comes through the door as a box.
-
Ten-year full warranty
Jamison backs the Ion Plush with a 10-year full warranty. Warranty or damage questions after delivery go to help@mattressoverstock.email.
Construction
What is inside
Five layers, twelve inches, no coils
Start at the top. The cover is a ComfortKnit MemoryQuilt Foam with Gel quilted comfort layer. The gel foam is quilted into the cover, so the cool-feeling material is the first thing your hand touches and it stays where Jamison put it.
Under the quilt sit Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers. They meet the federal open-flame standard, 16 CFR part 1633, with fibers rather than chemical flame retardant sprays.
Next is a Gel Cooling Foam layer. It spreads your weight across the surface and helps move heat away from your body before it reaches the memory foam.
Then comes the ComfortVisco memory foam, the layer that earns the Plush rating. It shapes itself to the shoulder and hip so a side sleeper's spine stays in line. This is the same memory foam layer that the Ignite Plush uses; the Ion simply has more bed built around it.
The base is the DualCore Support Foam Core. It holds the surface level so the soft layers above do not bottom out, and in a twelve-inch build there is more material between you and the frame than in the ten-inch Ignite, which is what gives the Ion its deeper, more settled feel. No coils anywhere. Jamison's spec sheet shows CertiPUR-US certified foams. It arrives compressed and roll-packed.
Sleep positions
Who it is for
Best for adults who want plush and want the bed to look like one
Side sleepers get the sink-in feel that only memory foam gives, with twelve inches of bed to give with. The shoulder and hip settle in, the spine stays in line, and the DualCore Support Foam Core underneath keeps everything from bottoming out. If you have wanted plush for years and settled for medium, this is the one.
Couples get a bed that is quiet and deep enough for two. Foam naturally limits motion transfer, and a twelve-inch plush does not feel shallow with two adults on it the way a thinner bed can.
Back sleepers who like a soft top get real depth under the lower back. The ComfortVisco layer cradles, the base supports, and the height means the cradle does not run out.
Anyone replacing a worn-out primary mattress who has already decided on plush will find the Ion looks and feels like a main-bedroom bed on a platform or a foundation, at a factory-direct price.
Warm sleepers who want memory foam should note the layer order. Gel foam in the quilted cover and a Gel Cooling Foam layer sit above the memory foam, so heat has somewhere to go before it reaches the layer that would otherwise hold it.
Stomach sleepers, and anyone furnishing a bunk or an RV, should look elsewhere. Face down on a 4 out of 10 the hips drop and the lower back bends, so the React Cushion Firm at 8 out of 10 is the better bed for that sleeper, and its eight-inch profile is the one that fits a bunk or a camper. If you want the Ion feel but a coil core, the Elevate Plush is the hybrid version.

Frequently asked questions
Not covered here? Ask the team at any of our Kentucky showrooms.
Find a showroomHow firm is the Ion Plush, really?
Genuinely plush. The store stages it at 4 out of 10, where 10 is the firmest, and Jamison marks it Plush on its own dot scale. You settle into the surface, and at twelve inches there is more bed to settle into than on the ten-inch Ignite. The ComfortVisco memory foam does the contouring and the DualCore Support Foam Core keeps it level underneath.
Does the Ion sleep cool?
It is built to help. Memory foam on its own can hold heat, so Jamison puts gel foam quilted into the ComfortKnit MemoryQuilt cover and a Gel Cooling Foam layer above the ComfortVisco memory foam. Those gel layers help move surface heat away before it reaches the memory foam. A plush bed does wrap around you more than a firm one, so if you run very warm, that layer order is the part to weigh.
Is it a hybrid or an all-foam mattress?
All foam. There are no coils in the Ion. The support comes from the DualCore Support Foam Core, with ComfortVisco memory foam, Gel Cooling Foam, and the gel-quilted cover stacked above it. If you want this plush feel over a coil core, the Elevate Plush is the hybrid in the line, with a QuantumEdge individually wrapped coil system under its foams.
Can I try the Ion in a Mattress Overstock showroom?
No. The Ion Plush is an online exclusive and it is not on any Mattress Overstock showroom floor right now, so there is nothing to lie down on in person. If you want to feel a Jamison before you buy a primary bed, the showroom Jamison lineup, including the Clarion Eurotop and Firm, Easton, and Vista, is at the Jamison Bedding collection and you can try those in the stores.
Where does it ship and what does shipping cost?
Shipping is free to the contiguous United States, meaning the 48 states plus Washington, DC.¹ It is not available to Alaska, Hawaii, or the United States territories. Jamison ships it direct from the factory via UPS and tracking is emailed once it leaves the plant. The store does not promise transit days, because the carrier does not promise them to the store.
How does it arrive?
Compressed and roll-packed, shipped via UPS from Jamison's factory. Even at twelve inches it arrives as a box rather than a full-size mattress, so getting it up the stairs and into the bedroom is a one-person job. Set it on the frame or foundation, cut the wrap, and let it open up. Give it time to reach its full height before you judge the feel.
What is the warranty?
Jamison backs the Ion Plush with a 10-year full warranty. Jamison has been handmade in the United States since 1883, with plants in Ohio, Georgia, Texas, and South Carolina, so the company behind the warranty has outlasted most of the brands that ship beds in boxes. If a warranty or damage question comes up after delivery, email help@mattressoverstock.email and the team will work through it with Jamison on your behalf.
Is there a sleep trial or a return?
No. Jamison mattresses are not eligible for a sleep trial, comfort exchange or return. There are no cash refunds. If your mattress arrives damaged or defective, contact help@mattressoverstock.email for help under our refund policy. Plush is the right call for side sleepers and the wrong call for stomach sleepers, and the sleeper notes on this page spell that out.
Does it work with an adjustable base?
Typically, yes. A twelve-inch all-foam mattress with no coils flexes well and is usually compatible with adjustable bases. Before you order, confirm your specific base model with the store so the team can check it against Jamison's guidance for this model. A quick call is cheaper than finding out on delivery day.
How does the Ion compare to the Ignite Plush?
Same feel, more bed. Both are staged at 4 out of 10, both are all foam, and both use the same five layers from the ComfortKnit MemoryQuilt cover down to the DualCore Support Foam Core. The Ignite is ten inches and costs less, which makes it the guest room and teenager pick. The Ion is twelve inches, feels deeper and more settled with two adults on it, and looks like a primary bed on the frame.
