Do I need a new mattress for it?
Usually not. Ergomotion and Rize say their bases work with most mattresses, and Rize says that includes innerspring, hybrid and foam beds of any brand, as long as an innerspring has no border wire. Ergomotion names memory foam, latex, gel, innerspring and air mattresses as the ones that suit its bases. Tempur-Pedic and Sealy say every mattress they make works on their bases.
Your box spring stays out of it. It cannot bend, so the mattress sits right on the base. Sealy says you do not need a flat foundation under its power base.
