Six layers, with latex doing the quiet work
The cover is IceTech Cooling Fabric. It feels cool when you first lie down and it is the same cover used across the Star models and the Premier Firm. Under it, Safe Slumber fire retardant fibers meet the federal open-flame standard without chemical flame retardant sprays.
The first foam is DualComfort Foam with gel. It softens the surface and the gel helps carry heat away from your body. Next comes the layer that sets the 5 Star apart from the 4-Star: AeroSpring Latex. Jamison describes it as supportive, resilient, and breathable, with less deep contouring than softer foams. In practice that means you feel the plush surface without sinking to the bottom of it, and when you roll over the latex recovers with you instead of holding the dent. Below the latex is ComfortSoft Foam, the soft comfort foam that gives the bed its 4 out of 10 rating and its cushion under the shoulders and hips.
