About this adjustable base
The TEMPUR-Ergo ProSmart is Tempur-Pedic's top adjustable base. It has Snore Response and Sleeptracker-AI sleep coaching, and adds Wave Form massage, SoundScape mode and the Wind Down program. Lumbar support, under-bed lights, USB-A and USB-C ports and five one-touch positions are built in.
ProSmart or Smart?
Both have Snore Response, sleep coaching, the Smart Alarm and lumbar support. The TEMPUR-Ergo Smart has 2-zone massage. The ProSmart adds Wave Form massage, music you hear and feel through the mattress, the Wind Down program and a higher weight limit. If you will not use the sound and relaxation features, the Smart costs less.

Wave Form massage
Tempur-Pedic's Wave Form massage uses sound waves to send vibration from the base through the mattress. The head and foot zones each have three levels.

Snore Response
When the base senses snoring, it raises the head on its own. Tempur-Pedic says the bed raises once, about 12 degrees, and that this may reduce snoring in otherwise healthy people who snore because of their sleep position.

Sleeptracker-AI sensors come with the base. The Tempur Sleeptracker-AI app turns your nights into sleep insights, coaching and a Smart Alarm. It needs Wi-Fi.

A separate lumbar section raises up to 6 in. under your lower back. Tempur-Pedic says it works sitting up or lying flat, and for stomach and side sleepers.

How to use it
The remote, button by button
The wireless remote arrives paired to the base. The app adds more massage settings, sleep data and coaching.
Head, foot and lumbar. Up and down buttons for each section.
Zero-G. Raises your legs to take pressure off the lower back.
TV in Bed. Moves the head and foot to a position for watching TV.
QuietMode. Tilts the mattress to Tempur-Pedic's anti-snore position.
Favorite 1 and 2. Two positions you save yourself.
Saving a position. Zero-G, TV in Bed, QuietMode and the Favorite buttons all take a new position. Set the bed, then hold the button until the backlight flashes twice. Hold Flat and Zero-G for five seconds to go back to the factory settings.
Under-bed light. Turns the lights on and off. Hold it for three seconds to turn off the lit badge on the base.
Head massage and foot massage. Each press steps through low, medium, high and off. In SoundScape mode the same buttons set the bass level.
Body Relax and Mind Relax. Set the massage to 28 Hz or 40 Hz. If the massage is off, either button starts both zones at low.
Massage and SoundScape mode. Steps through wave modes 1, 2 and 3, then off. The massage stops on its own after 30 minutes. Hold it for three seconds to switch between massage and SoundScape.
Flat. Lowers the head, foot and lumbar to flat.
Split Head mode. For two synced bases under a split-head mattress. The heads move on their own and the feet move together.
Child lock. Hold the Child Lock button for three seconds.

The TEMPUR-Ergo Smart has Snore Response, sleep coaching and 2-zone massage. The ProSmart adds Wave Form massage with Body Relax and Mind Relax settings, SoundScape mode and the Wind Down program. Its owner's manual also lists a higher weight limit, 850 lb against 750 lb.
How does Snore Response work?

How do I play music through the base?
Switch the remote to SoundScape mode, then pair your phone over Bluetooth. The owner's manual says the base shows up as ProSmart followed by a number. Control the volume from your phone and the bass from the massage buttons.
Do I need the app?
The remote moves the base and runs the massage, SoundScape and presets. Snore Response, sleep insights, coaching, the Smart Alarm and more massage settings use the Tempur Sleeptracker-AI app, which needs Wi-Fi.
Do I need a new mattress?
Not if you sleep on a Tempur-Pedic or a Sealy. Tempur-Pedic says every Tempur-Pedic mattress works on its power bases, and Sealy says its mattresses work on Tempur-Pedic bases. For another brand, bring the mattress name to a showroom and our team can check it, or see our mattresses.
Do I keep my box spring?
No. The mattress goes right on the base, and a retainer bar at the foot of the base holds it in place.
Will it fit inside my bed frame?
Usually. Tempur-Pedic says its power bases fit inside most modern bed frames, but may not fit antique or other non-standard frames. Measure the inside of your frame and compare it with the sizes in the specifications above. The owner's manual says the frame must be rated for at least 900 lb, and if you take the legs off and set the base on a frame or platform bed, cross slats are strongly recommended.
How tall will my bed be?
Tempur-Pedic lists the base at 3.7 in. tall without legs and 15.7 in. with the legs at full height. The legs adjust in 3 in. steps: flat, 3, 6, 9 or 12 in. Take them off to set the base on a platform bed. Add the height of your mattress to find the height of the bed.
How much weight can it hold?
The owner's manual lists 850 lb in total and 350 lb per person, spread across the head and foot sections.
How do I set up a Split King?
Order two Twin XL bases. The two bases sync without a cord, so one remote can move both, and a connecting strap comes with Twin XL bases to hold them together. Split Head mode lets each head move on its own while the feet move together.
Can I attach my headboard?
Yes, with a bracket kit. Tempur-Pedic does not include headboard brackets with its power bases. It sells a universal bracket kit separately.
What happens if the power goes out?
A battery backup strap comes with the base. It takes two 9-volt batteries, which are not included. Connect it in place of the power supply to bring the base back to flat.
What does the warranty cover?
Tempur-Pedic backs it with a 25-year limited warranty. Years 1 to 3 cover parts and labor. Years 4 and 5 cover parts only. The metal frame is covered for 25 years.
