Plush Mattresses
Every bed here measures a 3 or 4 out of 10: genuinely plush at the surface, with a real support system underneath. Soft is a feel, not a compromise, when it is built properly.
How much sink do you actually want?
Cloud-soft pillow top or gentle cradle with a quick recovery? This page runs the whole range. The quiz narrows 51 beds to the two or three that match your build, then the floor makes it obvious.
Not sure? Take the two-minute quizEvery plush bed we stock pairs its soft comfort layers with a support core we would put our name behind. The cheap way to make a bed feel soft is to under-build it. None of that lives on this page.

Plush, in plain English
Soft done right, not soft done cheap
Plush has a reputation problem it does not deserve. The old fear, that a soft bed means a swaybacked morning, comes from an era of under-built promotional mattresses where soft meant less material, not better material. A properly built plush bed is a different machine: generous soft comfort layers doing the pressure-relief work on top, and a full-strength support core underneath holding your spine where it belongs. You sink into the top of the bed; you do not sink through it. All 51 beds on this page measure a 3 or 4 out of 10 on our scale and pass that build test, and the ones that could not, we simply do not stock.
Who plush is actually for
Side sleepers, first and always. On your side, your shoulder and hip carry most of your weight, and a soft surface lets them nest so your spine stays straight; on a too-firm bed they perch and ache. Lighter-framed sleepers are the second group, because a body that does not compress a medium bed very far needs a softer surface to get any contour at all. And third, anyone whose mornings start with pressure-point complaints, shoulders, hips, the parts that touch the bed, tends to migrate softer, and the association is no mystery: less surface pressure, less to wake up sore about.
Sink versus sag: the distinction that matters
Sink is what happens in the first minute, and it is a preference. Sag is what happens in year three, and it is a defect. When people ask whether a soft mattress is bad for your back, they are usually asking about sag while pointing at sink. A well-built plush bed holds its support for years; the softness lives in layers designed to be soft. What you should actually check is underneath: side sleepers do well with soft, but stomach sleepers on very soft surfaces tend to bow at the hips, and if that is your position, the medium-firm page will treat you better.
What is on this page
The depth here is the point. Tempur-Pedic's Soft line (ProAdapt, LuxeAdapt, LuxeBreeze) is the slow-melt option: dense adaptive foam that eases you in rather than bouncing you back. Stearns & Foster's soft Euro tops and pillow tops are the classic luxury answer, hand-built layers with hotel-bed character. The Beautyrest Black Plush ladder runs from the Series One to the Series Four Apex builds, some of the most elaborate soft construction being made right now. Purple's Restore Soft hybrids wrap the GelFlex Grid in softer comfort layers, a plush that still recovers instantly when you move. Nectar's Luxe and Ultra lines bring deep memory-foam cradle at the value end, Casper's Snow Max and Dream Max cover the modern-foam middle with cooling ambitions, and Sealy, Serta, Jamison and Sherwood fill out the range with soft Euro tops and pillowtops that keep the price of entry reasonable.
Pillow top, Euro top, or plush foam
Three roads to soft. A pillow top is a sewn-on cushion layer with a visible seam, the classic cloud look and the fastest break-in. A Euro top builds the extra softness flush into the mattress edge, which sleeps similar but keeps the sides tidier and often lasts a little longer at the edge. Plush all-foam builds skip the topper entirely and make the whole upper third of the bed soft, the most consistent feel of the three and the least bouncy. None of the three is better; they are different textures of soft, and ten minutes lying on each teaches you more than any diagram.

The plush wall is deep for a reason
Fifty-one beds is not an accident. Side sleepers and pressure-point sleepers are half our showroom traffic, and they deserve more than two token pillow tops in the corner. This is the deepest soft selection in our region, rated honestly.

The questions we hear most on the floor and on the phone.
Are soft mattresses bad for your back?
Not when they are built with a real support core, and not for every sleeper. Side sleepers in particular often see pressure-point relief on plush surfaces with no alignment penalty. The honest caveats: stomach sleepers tend to bow at the hips on very soft beds, and heavier bodies push deeper, so what measures a 4 can behave like a 2. Fit first, folklore second.
Can a soft mattress cause back pain?
A worn-out soft mattress can, because sagging support lets your spine bow all night. A well-built plush bed that fits your position and build generally does not; the softness lives in the comfort layers while the core keeps alignment. If your current soft bed hurts, check its age and its foundation before blaming softness itself.
What is the difference between plush and pillow top?
Plush describes how the bed feels, a 3 or 4 on our firmness scale. Pillow top describes one way to build it, a sewn-on comfort cushion above the mattress surface. Many pillow tops are plush, but a plush bed can also be an all-foam build or a Euro top with no visible pillow at all. Shop the feel first, then pick the construction you like lying on.
Who should choose a plush mattress?
Side sleepers, lighter-framed sleepers, and anyone who wakes up sore where the body meets the bed. Those three groups reliably benefit from more surface give. Back sleepers can enjoy plush when the support core is strong, which is true of the beds on this page; dedicated stomach sleepers usually belong a step or two firmer.
How can I make a firm mattress softer?
A quality plush topper, two to three inches, is the honest budget move and buys real relief for a season. It will not turn a true firm into a true plush; the firm layers keep working underneath. If you find yourself topper-shopping twice for the same bed, the mattress is telling you its feel is wrong for you, and that money is better aimed at the right bed.
Do plush mattresses wear out faster than firm ones?
Slightly faster at the surface, on average: soft comfort layers do more moving, so they show body impressions earlier than dense firm layers. Build quality matters far more than firmness, though. A well-made plush bed with quality foams outlasts a cheap firm one by years, and the plush beds here are stocked with that bar in mind.
