If you only have ten seconds: Mattress & Co is a Kentucky-based mattress retailer with two showrooms (Frankfort and Lexington). They carry most of the major brands — Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Beautyrest, Serta, Purple, Nectar, DreamCloud, Therapedic, and a few others. They offer Synchrony financing and a 120-night Comfort Promise. If they're working for you, that's a fair store and the Lexington location is on Woodhill Drive a few miles from us.

Mattress Overstock is a different independent Kentucky retailer with five showrooms — Lexington, Richmond, Georgetown, London, and Somerset — also founded as a local family business and operating since 2012. We carry overlapping brands. The reasons people search for an alternative are usually one of three: they want a showroom closer to home (more coverage in central or eastern Kentucky), they want a delivery experience that includes setup and old-mattress removal at no charge, or they want to actually buy a mattress online without being routed to a phone call.

A mattress isn't a thing you buy from a screenshot. The five-minute showroom test — lying on the bed, getting up, lying on another, getting up — is the only honest way to know which one fits your body. If you're in Frankfort, that's the closest mattress retailer in our region — we don't have a Frankfort showroom and we route Frankfort customers through our Georgetown location, which is about 25 minutes east on I-64. If you're in Lexington, both retailers have a showroom (ours is on Nicholasville Road in south Lexington, theirs is on Woodhill Drive in east Lexington) and the choice is really about which side of town you'd rather drive to.

For Richmond, Georgetown, London, and Somerset — anywhere east or south of Lexington, anywhere along I-75 between Lexington and the Tennessee line, or anywhere in the Lake Cumberland region — we're the closer option by a wide margin. Most of these markets have a Mattress Overstock showroom inside the city itself.

Most mattress retailers' "free delivery" means a truck drops a box at your front porch. We're a step beyond that. If you go to a Mattress & Co product detail page today — for example, their DreamCloud Tight Top page — the page shows you a starting price, the size options, and a button labeled Call for Availability. The page itself displays the disclaimer: "Mattresses and mattress accessories are unavailable for online purchase at this time." A phone call to the Frankfort showroom is the path to placing an order.

Mattress Overstock runs on Shopify with a real cart and a real checkout. You can add a mattress to your cart, choose your size, select a delivery date in our service area, pay, and have a confirmed order in two minutes without speaking to anyone. The five-minute showroom test still matters and we still encourage it — but for customers who have already decided which model, or who want to compare configurations side-by-side without a sales conversation, the online flow exists and works.

This isn't a judgment about Mattress & Co — every retailer makes a different call about online commerce. It is a fact about the buying experience. If "I want to be able to check out at midnight without a phone call" is something that matters to you, that's a real differentiator.

The brand carry between the two retailers overlaps substantially. Both stock Tempur-Pedic (we're an authorized Tempur-Pedic dealer), Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Beautyrest, Serta, Purple, Nectar, DreamCloud, and Therapedic. Where the lineups diverge is at the edges — we carry Casper and a different subset of import models; they carry Restonic and Sherwood. None of those edge-of-lineup differences are usually the deciding factor for a buyer.

Because the brand carry is so similar, the mattress-pricing question is largely a non-question. Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Purple, and DreamCloud all run on Unilateral Pricing Policies (UPP) — the manufacturer sets the price, every retailer is required to honor it, and a "deal" or "sale" on a UPP-protected brand at one retailer means an identical price is available at every other authorized dealer. The competition between authorized dealers is service-side: which retailer gets the mattress to you faster, with less hassle, with more support after the purchase.

If you live in Frankfort, they're the closer of the two retailers — we don't have a Frankfort showroom and our nearest location is Georgetown (~25 minutes east on I-64). And if their 120-Night Comfort Promise has the specific terms you want, that's a value, too. We're not going to pretend either of those things isn't a real benefit.

Vernon, Corbin, or any of the towns east or south of Lexington, we're the closer retailer with a showroom in or near your city.
